Blogging

Personally, I think we should all be aware that blogs emerged, initially as a tool of communication and expression of point of views from a personal perspective with the functionality to serve as a virtual diary. With the use of the blogs I can mention several advantages that help us understand the importance of this tool in today’s society.

Here I show you some one of this advantages using the blogs:

1. Reach across the network / internet for everyone.
2. Feedback, information exchange, etcetera.
3. Be personal, group or institutional.
4. Inclusion of web pages independent of articles.
5. Work collaborative / collaborative environment.
6. Setting read and writes access to topics or articles.
7. Use as many blogs as you need.
8. Search chronological or thematic on writings.
9. Combining traditional hand-written text, freehand drawings, and newspaper clippings with pictures and digital videos, sounds, and custom designs, etcetera.
10. Do not need informatics specialists.

The topics addressed by a person, group of persons or entities in a blog vary according to your needs. The content could include some of this aspect: personal, political, economic, social, cultural, regional, educational, journalistic, religious, technological, business, corporate, and many others. It could also be simply a mixture of any of them.

It should be added, when you decide the task of creating and maintaining a blog, you need to have computer skills, writing skills and in some cases language skills. Some of them may be developed or improved during the life of the blog.

Over time they have been developed new structures for design, stability and functionality of the blogs. Thus enabling its use as a computer tool in education for teachers, students, research groups, classes, workshops, primary schools, lower and upper secondary schools, universities, etcetera.  Providing facilities, collaboration, requirements, knowledge, human relationships, among many others. It’s been a long road but has succeeded, although there is considerable room for improvement.

Working with a blog is not easy at first, depends on many aspects: personal behavior, availability, concentration, time, topics, language, writing, knowledge, skills, and so on. But the moment you feel that you’ve caught and you know enough to really convince you that you’re doing well, no way to stop writing and improve your blog. It’s say from personal experience.

Blogging

There are several topics on which I want to start writing with some regularity in this blog: Information and Communication Technologies, Informatics Tools, Software Engineering, Programming, Database Design, Web Design, Open Source, Geographic Information Systems, Blogs, Education, Teaching and Learning Process, Internships, Innovation, Research, among others. It’s time to start working.

The central topic for some of these issues could be linked in education from the perspective of management, innovation and research. For other issues may be simply informative, personal experiences, recommendations and so on.

Today I will working hard to have a good presence in my blog. Each day I am learning new things, tricks and I am trying to implement it. I am learning to blogging by doing.

Editing Videos

The work done in our practice was very successful today. We finished editing all the interviews with teachers and members of Oslo University College (OUC, HIO) and Akershus University College (AUC, HIAK) with the aim of presenting opinions and a discussion on the internationalization of education, and the union of two academic institutions.

In earlier days we had edited the first three interviews, we still have another eight to be done. In the video we just left those scenes that seem important for the seminar, taking into account the time available, the objective of the seminar, the questions asked, answers from respondents and the characteristics required to submit a video. It was hard work but worth it.

For next week, we can only need put transitions, text, sound and everything will be ready.

The whole process of video editing has been done with the tool “Pinnacle Studio”. I learned how to use this powerful tool for video editing (cuts, splices, sounds, transitions, text, tips, etc.) and the concentration and patience needed that must be maintained during the process. That allowed me to make mine a realistic conception of the video editing process. While I think that sometimes can be exhausting, but if you enjoy it much better.

On the other hand, between my fight to not think anything in Spanish, listen carefully to the English respondents, communication in English among the staff, and French at all times to try to understand, I did finish the day with a great intellectual fatigue. However, I think it was an interesting experience, a combination of multiculturalism, multilenguage, collaborative learning and teamwork.

Discussions

Today was to analyze our proposal group for the final presentation of our experiences, first, in using the tool “Google Translate” to translate texts, and secondly, the employment of blogs as communication tools and presentation of knowledge and experience in teamwork.

Here I let you some points that we analyzed, but also, my reflections about it, at the end of each one.

Translations:

• What is a good translation? – Humans versus Machine.
• Personal experiences in translations. – We know how translate?
• Context and content on translations. – Is it important when we translate?
• Multicultural and multilanguage environments. – Have influence on the translation?
• Internal process of translation tools. – How work a translation tools?
• Examples in use of Google Translate. – Examples of good and bad translations.

Blogging:

• What mean collaboration? – This is so important?
• What is blogging? – Really we know about it?
• How to use collaboration on blogging environments? – I am using it in the right way?
• What we see in our blogs? – Our blog are equals or different?
• Different ways to blogging. – We blogging in the same way?
• Blogging as support for students and teacher in collaborative learning? – Which are the different ways to use blogging on education field?

I defend the idea of the four levels that I mention before in one post, if we want to have a good translation. This level are concerning to the original text, the author of the text, who is doing the translation and the tools to be quickly the translations.

In my opinion is so important to know what mean collaboration, collaborative learning, collaborative environments, working in group, blogging. Also how to use correctly the blog tool to collaborate, to teach, to share information and to work in group. Working in group in good way.

Interview

Today we made our last interview with members of the Akershus University College (AUC HIAK) overlooking the final seminar in our practice at LATINA / Lab in Oslo Univesity College (OUC, HIO). The person interviewed on this occasion has extensive experience in working with foreign students coming to study in HIAK to one of several international programs they offer.

His work is framed now in the process of receiving and accommodation on campus, cultural activities, social and knowledge of Norwegian society, legal procedures, interaction with foreign students, associations, and so on. All are very important to make your stay comfortable and quiet of all foreign students in a new college environment.  Therefore, although no mention of his name because I am not authorized, is someone who will remember all my life.

Returning to the interview, questions addressed the same issues as in the past: the internationalization of education and its obstacles in implementation, and the merging process between the colleges of Oslo and Akershus.
